Yellowstone River Guided Fly Fishing Trips

Big Water, Open Valleys, and Legendary Fly Fishing on the Yellowstone River

The Yellowstone River is one of the most iconic trout rivers in the West — flowing north out of Yellowstone National Park through the sweeping landscapes of Paradise Valley.

Wide riffles, long glides, deep cutbanks, and classic structure make the Yellowstone ideal for a variety of fly fishing techniques. The river supports healthy populations of wild rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout and fishes well across a broad range of conditions.

From fast-paced dry-fly fishing in summer to nymphing and streamer opportunities in the shoulder seasons, the Yellowstone offers a true big-river experience with room to spread out and fish at your own pace.

Whether you’re floating classic runs, covering banks with streamers, or waiting out a hatch in a long seam, a day on the Yellowstone River is the kind of experience anglers travel across the country for.

Why Fish the Yellowstone River?

The Yellowstone River delivers one of the most complete fly fishing experiences in Montana, combining scenery, fish numbers, and diverse water types.

  • Spring fishing features strong nymphing and early-season streamer action.

  • Summer brings legendary PMDs, caddis, Yellow Sallies, and hopper fishing.

  • Fall offers excellent Blue Winged Olive hatches and aggressive trout.

  • Large, readable water rewards good drifts and thoughtful presentation.

  • Ample access and float options allow guides to spread out and avoid crowds.

From first-time anglers to seasoned fly fishers looking for classic Western trout water, the Yellowstone consistently delivers productive days and memorable fishing.
